GAIT ANALYSIS
Running is repetitive — thousands of steps per mile. If your mechanics are slightly off, those small inefficiencies compound into pain, plateaued performance, and inconsistent training.
Gait Analysis at The Rebuild Method is a deep, individualized look at how you move — not just how far you run. We evaluate your running mechanics, mobility, strength, and movement strategy to identify what’s holding you back and what will move you forward.
Whether you’re coming back from injury, chasing a PR, or simply want to feel smoother and stronger with every stride, gait analysis gives you the clarity to train with purpose. You’ll walk away with a clear explanation of what we see, what it means for your body, and a plan you can actually execute — so you can rebuild confidently.
WHAT SETS US APART
Your gait analysis provides the roadmap — follow-up care is where the work happens.
We’ll help you determine the best next step to rebuild efficiently and sustainably.
All gait analyses at The Rebuild Method are performed by Dr. Silvana Heinz, DPT, a licensed
physical therapist with advanced training and multiple certifications in gait retraining,
biomechanics, and running mechanics. Her approach blends clinical expertise with performance
coaching to deliver precise, actionable insight for runners at every level.
Our Process
-

Intake + Story
We start by understanding you: your injury history, training background, goals, race schedule, footwear, and what you’ve already tried. This context matters — because the same “movement pattern” can mean different things depending on your training load and your body’s history.
-

Assessment + Data Capture
Next, we evaluate the foundations that drive your stride: mobility, strength, stability, and coordination. We then capture a short, high-quality snapshot of your running mechanics using advanced gait analysis technology. While the capture itself is brief, it provides detailed insight into how your body is moving and where inefficiencies or compensations may be occurring.
This information allows us to focus on what actually matters- connecting how you run to how your body functions- rather than collecting unnecessary data.
-

Education, Score + Comprehensive Report
This is where everything comes together.
You will receive a complete, comprehensive printout detailing your running mechanics, key joint angles, ranges of motion, and movement patterns, along with clear explanations of what each finding means for performance and injury risk. You will also receive a personalized gait score, giving you an objective snapshot of your movement efficiency and alignment.
We walk you through the report together:
● Primary mechanical drivers and compensations
● Strength or mobility limitations influencing your stride
● Which findings matter most for you (and which don’t)
● How these mechanics connect to your training and injury history
Your gait score and report provide a clear baseline to track progress over time as you rebuild your mechanics and performance.
-

Recommendations + Next Steps
At the conclusion of your gait analysis, we review your findings together and discuss clear, individualized recommendations based on your goals, training load, and movement profile.
For some athletes, this may simply mean a deeper understanding of their mechanics and what to be mindful of moving forward. For others, meaningful change requires guided progression- which is why follow-up appointments are strongly encouraged.
During follow-up sessions, we can:
● Implement gait retraining strategies
● Address strength and mobility limitations identified in your report
● Refine movement cues and progressions over time
● Integrate changes into your return-to-run or performance plan
